Overview

CryptoScans is an innovative project changing how businesses and entrepreneurs select blockchain platforms for their applications. By providing easy-to-understand crypto asset profiles, CryptoScans is filling a crucial gap in the market by offering comprehensive educational resources and detailed insights into specific cryptocurrencies.

Problem Statement

Many businesses and entrepreneurs struggle to navigate the complex landscape of blockchain technology and select the right platform for their applications. Existing platforms often focus on trading and lack detailed information about cryptocurrencies' underlying technology and use cases, leaving users without the necessary insights to make informed decisions.

Solution

CryptoScans addresses these challenges by offering detailed crypto profiles that contain essential information about each cryptocurrency, including its purpose, technology, use cases, and investment potential. These profiles are designed to be easy to digest, making it simple for users to understand the complexities of blockchain technology and make informed decisions about platform selection.

Objectives

Educational Empowerment: To give businesses and entrepreneurs the knowledge and understanding to select the right blockchain platform for their applications confidently.
Simplifying Complexity: To simplify the complexities of blockchain technology and cryptocurrencies, making them accessible and understandable to a wider audience.
Decision Support: To offer detailed insights and information about specific cryptocurrencies, enabling users to make well-informed decisions regarding platform selection and investment.

My Role

It was an Industry Design Project (IDP) with a real client. I lead a team of UI/UX designers, ensuring that everyone is aligned with the project goals and working effectively towards achieving them. I took on responsibilities like distributing work evenly, submitting milestones, organizing meetings. A well-organized approach and support of my team and the client’s quick responses made the project run smoothly.

Research & Competitive Analysis

1 - Cryptocompare

Strengths
-Extra sections that include updates
News articles
-Updates on social media
-Trades in real-time

Weaknesses
-No use cases
-No information on how the technology works
-No information on the history + founder
-Ads are distracting

2 - Coinmarketcap

Strengths
-Coinmarketcap offer more information than Cryptocompare with additional information like founders, secured network, unique position and more FAQ questions for each cryptocurrency.
-“People also watch” section helpful for those doing research

Weaknesses
-There are a lot of sections at once
- No use cases Like educational platforms, decision support, investment insights
- Users complain that the light font color and small font size make it difficult to read.

User Persona

In the beginning we sketched two main pages of Cryptoscan ‘Discover page’ which was later named as ‘Find a Crypto’ page and ‘Profile Page’ to provide a visual representation of the platform’s layout, features and, functionality, helping to guide the development process and ensure that the final product meets the needs of its users.

Sketches

The ‘Find a Crypto’ page sketch shows a layout featuring key sections such as featured cryptocurrencies, search filters like use case, consensus mechanism, protocol, market cap etc and also a quiz to provide users with the ability to chose the projects related with blockchain development or investment considerations.

Discover Page

The ‘Profile Page’ sketches for individual cryptocurrency profiles which includes section for key informations such as the coin’s name, logo,released date, CEO, developers, use case, price, ATH, ATL, protocol, consensus mechanism, TPS etc. It also educates users about the overview, team, ecosystem, partners & community and tokenomics of the cryptocurrency. Visual aids such as infographics, videos, news & articles are incorporated to enhance the learning experience. We also included compare similar digital assets feature for selecting multiple cryptocurrencies to compare and analyze and make informed decisions.
